Bob Smith for Congress respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect on this website, why, and what you can do about it. Our mobile messaging terms are on our Terms of Use page.
1. What we collect
Information you give us. When you fill in a form on this site we may collect your name, email address, mobile number, ZIP code, and anything you write in a message field. On some forms we also record how you told us you want to help, and your connection to the military community.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect basic technical information when you visit: your approximate location based on IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how you arrived, and how long you stay.
What we do not collect here. We do not take contributions on this site. Contributions are handled by a third-party processor on its own website, under its own privacy policy. We never receive or store your full payment card details.
2. Cookies and analytics
We use the following third-party services on this site. Each sets cookies or similar identifiers.
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. To understand how many people visit, which pages they read, and which links they click. This tells us what is useful and what is not.
- Meta Pixel. To measure whether our advertising reaches people and works. This may allow Meta to associate your visit with your Meta account.
- Google Fonts and embedded video. Pages with video embed it from YouTube using its privacy-enhanced mode.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on. Blocking them will not stop you using this site.
3. How we use your information
- To send campaign updates by email, if you asked for them.
- To send text messages, if you gave us your number and consented.
- To follow up when you offer to volunteer, host, canvass, make calls, or request a yard sign.
- To answer questions you send us.
- To understand how the website is used and improve it.
- To meet our legal and reporting obligations.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
We share it only with service providers who help us operate, such as our website host, email delivery service, and text message provider. They may use it only to provide that service to us.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of others.
5. Your choices
- Email. Every message has an unsubscribe link. It works.
- Text messages. Reply STOP to any message. Reply HELP for help.
- Access, correction, deletion. Ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact details are below.
- California residents. California law gives residents additional rights over personal information. Contact us and we will respond.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as it is useful to the campaign and for as long as the law requires us to. Records that federal law requires us to retain are kept for the required period.
7. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. No website can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise.
8. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.

Appendix: Mobile Messaging Terms and Conditions
These are the full terms for our text message program, retained from our previous policy.
Bob Smith For Congress (“We,” “Us,” “Our”) is offering a mobile messaging program (the “Program”), subject to these Mobile Messaging Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”). If you do not wish to continue participating in the Program or no longer agree to these Terms, you can reply “STOP” to any mobile message from Us in order to opt out of the Program.
User Opt In: The Program allows users to receive SMS/MMS mobile messages by affirmatively opting into the Program. Regardless of the opt-in method you utilized to join the Program, you agree that these Terms apply to your participation in the Program. The mobile messaging service used by Us to communicate with you requires human intervention for Our mobile messages to be initiated, and thus Our mobile messages are not sent to you by an automatic telephone dialing system (“ATDS” or “autodialer”). Nevertheless, by participating in the Program, you agree to receive autodialed marketing mobile messages and you understand that consent is not required to make any purchase from Us.
Program Description: Without limiting the scope of the Program, users that opt into the Program can expect to receive messages concerning updates and information from Bob Smith For Congress.
Cost and Frequency: Message and data rates may apply. The Program involves recurring mobile messages, and additional mobile messages may be sent based on your interaction with Us.
Contact Information: For support text “HELP” to any of Our mobile messages.
User Opt Out and Additional Commands: To opt out (discontinue participation in the Program), reply “STOP” to any of Our mobile messages from your mobile device. This is the easiest and preferred method to opt out of the Program. You may receive an additional mobile message confirming your decision to opt out. For additional support, text “HELP” to get help.
MMS Disclosure: The Program will send SMS MTs if your mobile device does not support MMS messaging.
Our Warranty: We will not be liable for any delays or failures in the receipt of any mobile messages connected with this Program. Delivery of mobile messages is subject to effective transmission from your wireless service provider/network operator, and is outside of Our control. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered mobile messages.
